Daily Prompt: The Excitement Never Ends

Daily Prompt: The Excitement Never Ends.

I am so excited today. One of my friend’s gave me an amazing present – A Feast for Crows by George R. R. Martin on AUDIOBOOK!

I just adore audiobooks. I listened to A Game of Thrones on audiobook from the library but they didn’t get the rest of the series. As the whole series is ridiculously expensive I haven’t been able to justify buying any of them myself. Friends can be so wonderful!

Happy listening everyone!

A Storm of Swords by George R.R. Martin

A Storm of Swords (A Song of Ice and Fire, #3)A Storm of Swords by George R.R. Martin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the amazing third instalment of the A Song of Ice and Fire epic fantasy series. A few years ago I attempted to read A Game of Thrones but I couldn’t get my head around all of the characters. When the HBO television series aired, I quickly became obsessed. To assist with my grief over the wait between series, I decided to try to read the novel again. This time I selected the audiobook. The audiobook was so well done that it clearly differentiated between the characters and after viewing the television series, it was much easier to keep track. I will however admit that there was a day when it took me two hours to realise my iPod was on shuffle and I hadn’t been listening to the chapters in order – whoops! I chose not to read the second book, A Clash of Kings but I may read it in the future. After the end of the third HBO series, I knew I couldn’t wait another year until the next series so I pick up A Storm of Swords.

This time I select the ebook rather than the awkward print book, and I’m glad I did because I couldn’t put it down. This instalment is amazing! Each character underwent unpredictable twists and turns that had me cheering, crying and screaming. In George R.R. Martin style, characters come and go in extraordinary ways. I will admit that several times I flipped back to the contents page to see if there were more chapters about my favourite characters to try gauge if they had yet met their demise.

When I thought I had undergone the emotional roller coaster that is A Storm of Swords there came the final chapter with another twist that I could have never anticipated.

This is a brilliant instalment of the awe-inspiring and frustratingly exceptional epic fantasy modern saga. The whole series is a must read, not just for fantasy fans, but all adults who love an intriguing story. George R.R. Martin is a true story teller.
